Before You Start ## Getting Started with your Alocity AiVR Welcome to the Alocity AiVR Installation Guide! In this guide, we will help you set up and configure your Alocity AiVR to create a seamless Alocity Video system. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth installation process. **Step 1: Conduct a Site Survey** Before installing Alocity hardware, conduct a customer site survey to determine the following: - The number of cameras and streams to be configured (type, model, location and intended use). Count streams, not cameras: a 4-sensor camera is 4 streams. - Whether you will keep the cameras’ current stream settings or apply Alocity’s recommended profiles (Efficient, Detection Boost or Record-only) - The codec, frame rate, resolution and keyframe settings each camera will use - Storage: built-in only, or expanded with a local NAS (SMB), and how many days of retention the customer needs - Which AiVR model fits the site, based on stream count and decoding units - The site’s upload speed, which must cover continuous cloud backup --- **Step 2: Installation Prerequisites** Ensure the following prerequisites are met: - Installation to be performed only by a certified installer - Unit is mounted in a cool well ventilated area in a dust free enviorment - Power Sourcing Requirement: standard 120/240 V outlet, using the included power supply (9–19 V DC, 4–5 A) - The unit is powered by its included power supply. We recommend connecting it to a surge protector or, ideally, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to protect against power spikes and keep the unit running through brief outages. Please contact your integrator for further inquiries. - Wired gigabit Ethernet connection to the AiVR - If using a NAS: surveillance-class CMR hard drives or SSDs only, never SMR consumer drives *IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Use only the included power supply. PoE on your switch is needed for cameras only. Do not configure a static IP on the AiVR: it has no local screen or keyboard, so an address that doesn’t work leaves it offline until it’s recovered on site. Use a DHCP reservation instead.* --- **Step 3: Parts Included** Ensure you have the following parts included: - 1x Alocity AiVR - 1x Power supply --- **Step 4: Required Tools and Supplies** Prepare the following tools and supplies for the installation: - Cat5e or better Ethernet patch cable - Surge protector or UPS (recommended) - Laptop or workstation on the same VLAN as the AiVR, for camera setup and verification - Camera admin, ONVIF or RTSP credentials - Network details from the site’s IT team (VLAN, DHCP reservation, firewall rules) - Shelf, rack or closet space with ventilation **Installation:** Before proceeding with the installation, it is important to ensure that your network meets the necessary requirements.
