# A. Getting to Know Your AiVR

## Getting to Know Your AiVR: A Tour of the AiVR List and the AiVR Details Tabs in Alocity Control Center

The AiVR Details page in the Alocity Control Center is where you monitor and manage each AiVR appliance: the cameras it serves, its network address, how much bandwidth it uses, how its storage and cloud backup are performing, and its device settings. This article walks through the AiVR list and each tab on the AiVR Details page.

---

### 1. Opening the AiVR List

1. Open the module dropdown at the top left and select **Video Security**.
2. Select **AiVR** from the left menu. The list shows every AiVR on the account.

 *![Screenshot 2026-11-02 161327](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161327.png?width=670&height=370&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161327.png)*

The list has four columns: **NAME** (sorted A–Z by default), **SERIAL**, **SITES** and **STATUS**. A green dot before the name and a status of **Active** means the appliance is provisioned and working.

- **Search**: type part of a name and click the blue magnifier button.
- **Advanced Filter**: filter by **Serial Number**, **Name** or **Site**, then click **Done**. Click **Clear** to reset.
- **Row menu (…)**: **Change Name**, **Change Location** or **Resync**. See [How to perform a device resync](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/how-to-perform-a-device-resync?hsLang=en) before using Resync.

Click an AiVR's name to open its **AiVR Details** page.

---

### 2. The AiVR Details Page

The page header reads **AiVR Details**, with a **Back** button to return to the list. Five tabs run across the top:

| Tab | What you use it for |
| --- | --- |
| **Camera Streams** | See every camera on the AiVR, its status and stream details, and scan for new cameras |
| **Network Settings** | Confirm the AiVR's IP address, gateway, netmask and DNS server |
| **Bandwidth** | Track upload and download usage over the day and week |
| **Storage** | Check local disk use, days of video on the device, and cloud backup progress |
| **General** | Rename the appliance, check its status, reboot it, run a health check and choose the storage mode |

---

### 3. Camera Streams Tab

The summary strip at the top shows how the AiVR is doing at a glance:

- **CAMERA SLOTS**: slots used out of the slots available (for example, 16 / 16). When every slot is used, no more cameras can be added.
- **STREAMING**: cameras sending video, with the AiVR's average download (from cameras) and upload (to the cloud) in Mbps.
- **DEGRADED** (amber) and **OFFLINE** (red): cameras that need attention.
- **Scan network**: searches the local network for cameras. See [Adding Cameras to Your AiVR](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/adding-cameras-to-your-aivr?hsLang=en).

Below the strip, use the filter chips **All**, **Streaming**, **Degraded** and **Offline**, or type in **Filter by name, IP, MAC, zone…**. The **Grid / List** toggle switches the layout.

*![Screenshot 2026-11-02 161735](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161735.png?width=670&height=370&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161735.png)*

Each grid card shows a live thumbnail with **Live** and **REC** badges, the codec (H264 or H265) and resolution, the camera name, its site and zone, IP, port, MAC address and the date it was added. The card's **⋮** menu offers **Change Location** and **Remove**.

*![Screenshot 2026-11-02 161905](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161905.png?width=670&height=682&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20161905.png)*

The list view shows the same information in columns:

> **Tip:** Check the codec and resolution on each card. If they don't match the stream profile you built on the camera, the AiVR is pulling a different stream. See [Best Camera Configurations for AiVR](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/aivr-best-camera-configurations?hsLang=en).

---

### 4. Network Settings Tab

This tab shows the address the AiVR is using: **IP**, **Gateway**, **Netmask** and **DNS Server**. With **DHCP** on, the fields are greyed out and show the values the DHCP server assigned.

*![6.1-07-network-settings](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/6.1-07-network-settings.png?width=670&height=405&name=6.1-07-network-settings.png)*

> **IMPORTANT:** Leave **DHCP** on. The AiVR has no local screen or keyboard, so a static IP that doesn't work on the network leaves it offline until someone recovers it on site. If the AiVR needs a fixed address, create a DHCP reservation for its MAC address on the DHCP server instead. See [Alocity AiVR Network Requirements](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/alocity-aivr-network-requirements?hsLang=en).

---

### 5. Bandwidth Tab

- Four cards show **Avg Upload**, **Avg Download (RTSP access)**, **Max Upload** and **Max Download (RTSP access)**.
- The **Bandwidth Over Time** chart plots upload and download speed in Mbps. Switch between **Week** and **Day**.
- **Hourly values** lists average Mbps and GB transferred for each hour.
- The **Weekly Upload Heatmap** and **Weekly Download Heatmap (RTSP access)** show usage by day and hour, so you can spot peak periods.

*![Screenshot 2026-11-02 162331](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162331.png?width=670&height=351&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162331.png)*

> **Note:** Upload is what the AiVR sends to the Alocity cloud for backup and remote viewing. The site's upload speed should be at least the sum of all camera bitrates plus 20%. If average upload sits near the site's limit, cloud backup will fall behind.

---

### 6. Storage Tab

The four cards at the top summarize storage health:

- **USED**: space used on the AiVR's drive, in GB and as a percentage.
- **DAILY INGEST**: how much video the cameras send each day, and from how many sources.
- **DAYS OF VIDEO IN LOCAL STORAGE**: approximately how many days of footage the local drive holds.
- **HEALTH**: overall storage health (for example, Healthy).

The **Storage pipeline** shows how footage moves from the appliance to the cloud. A pill shows the AiVR's serial number, firmware version and when it last reported.

- The **On-device** card shows the local drive: used and available space, write rate, disk load, wear and temperature.
- The **Cloud** card shows cloud retention (for example, 30 days) and the sync state. Playback of older footage is served from the cloud.
- **Cloud upload lag** shows how far cloud backup is behind what the cameras recorded. **Up to date** means everything recorded is already in the cloud.

*![Screenshot 2026-11-02 162436](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162436.png?width=670&height=336&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162436.png)*

**Yesterday's storage by camera** lists how much each camera recorded in the last full day. Expand a row to see its bitrate and Alocity's encoder recommendations. See [Best Camera Configurations for AiVR](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/aivr-best-camera-configurations?hsLang=en).

> **Note:** Retention is shown here but can't be changed from this page. To change the retention period, contact your account manager or support. \[VERIFY: confirm how customers change retention\]

---

### 7. General Tab

- **Name**: click the ✎ pencil next to the name to rename the AiVR. Name it for the area its cameras cover, such as "Warehouse AiVR".
- The line under the name shows the model and the number of camera ports (for example, AiVR Appliance · 16-Port).
- **SERIAL NUMBER** (with a copy icon) and **CREATED** date.
- **STATUS**: should show **Active**. **CONNECTION**: should show **Online**.
- **STORAGE**: choose **Device**, **Cloud** or **NAS**. **Cloud** provides continuous cloud upload.

*![Screenshot 2026-11-02 162557](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162557.png?width=670&height=145&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20162557.png)*

Actions at the top of the tab:

- **Reboot**: restarts the AiVR. Recording and AI detection stop until it comes back online.
- **Health Check**: runs a diagnostic on the appliance.
- **Update**: installs a firmware update when one is available (greyed out when the AiVR is current).

> **IMPORTANT:** Changing the storage mode can take effect immediately. Cloud recording uses more upload bandwidth. Plan the change with the customer before switching.

---
