Alocity as a VMS ## Alocity as a VMSLive View, Playback, Clip Export, Video Walls and Storage in the Alocity Control Center Alocity is a full video management system (VMS) built around AI. Alongside AI agents and Aimee, the Control Center gives operators the everyday VMS tools: live view, recorded playback, clip export, video walls and storage with cloud backup. This article covers each of them. > **Tip:** Every task in this article can also be started by asking **Aimee**, Alocity's AI Operator, in plain language, for example "Show me who came through the front door yesterday after 6 pm." The Cameras Page Select **Cameras** from the left menu of the **Video Security** module. Live View The camera page opens with live video. The page title is the camera's name, with a **Back** button. Open the player's **⋮** menu for: - **Fullscreen** - **Screenshot**: saves a still image of the current frame - **Enable fisheye mode**: fisheye cameras only *![Screenshot 2026-11-02 170057](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-11-02%20170057.png?width=670&height=386&name=Screenshot%202026-11-02%20170057.png)* #### Fisheye cameras After enabling fisheye mode, use the **Virtual PTZ ▾** menu to choose how the image is dewarped: - **View mode**: **Original**, **Virtual PTZ**, **Panorama** or **Quad** - **Mount**: **Ceiling**, **Wall** or **Floor**. Motion and History Tabs Below the live video, the camera page has two tabs: - **Motion**: thumbnails of detected objects with timestamps. Filter by **Person**, **Vehicle** and **Animals**, set the date range (for example, Last 7 days) and refresh. The ⚙ icon opens the region-of-interest editor. See [AI Agent Configuration Types: Area, Line and Whole Frame](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/configuring-ai-video-agents-in-alocity?hsLang=en). - **History**: pick a date and a clip length from the **Clips** dropdown (**1 Hour**, **20 Minutes**, **10 Minutes** or **5 Minutes**), then click a thumbnail to play that period.   --- ### 5. Playing Back Recorded Video Playback opens full screen when you click a clip on the History tab or an event in an alert. Sharing or Downloading a Clip 1. In the playback player, click **Share/Download**. 2. Drag the start and end handles on the timeline to select the period you need. The start and end times show above the handles. 3. Click **Select**. Click **Cancel** to go back without exporting. --- ### 7. Video Walls A video wall shows several cameras on one screen. Select **Video Wall** from the left menu. #### Create a wall 1. Click **＋** next to the **Video Wall Name** dropdown. 2. In **Create New Wall**, choose how many cameras to view at once: **4**, **6**, **9** or **16**. 3. Select the wall from the **Video Wall Name** dropdown and click **✎ Edit**. 2. In the right panel, choose a site from the **Sites** dropdown. 3. Drag cameras from the list onto the numbered tiles. Cameras already on the wall show a ✓. 4. Click 🗑 on a tile to clear it, or 🗑 next to the name to delete the whole wall. 5. Click **Close Edit** when you're done. Click the fullscreen icon to show the wall on a dedicated monitor. > **Note:** Video wall access is controlled per user. Administrators decide which users can see each wall. --- ### 8. Storage and Cloud Backup Each AiVR records locally and backs footage up to the Alocity cloud, so video stays available even if the appliance is damaged or stolen. To check storage, go to **AiVR**, click the AiVR's name and open the **Storage** tab. It shows how many days of video are on the local drive, the cloud retention window and the **Cloud upload lag**.
