[First Steps](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/elevator-control?hsLang=en#first-steps) # Elevator Control: Before You Start ## Hardware, Reader, Group and Permission Requirements for Elevator Control Before configuring elevator access in the Alocity Control Center, confirm that the required hardware, readers, groups and permissions are in place. --- ### Requirements - The Mercury controller, such as an **LP4502** or **MP1502**, is installed and online. See [Quick Start Guide Mercury](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/quick-start-guide-mercury?hsLang=en). - The **MR16OUT** relay board (or MR52) is installed and connected to the controller. See [Adding Sub-Panels](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/mercury-adding-sub-panels?hsLang=en). - The controller and its boards appear under **Hardware › ACUs**, with the main board online and sub-panels **Matched**. - The elevator reader is wired and configured. See [Configuring Readers](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/mercury-configuring-readers?hsLang=en). - The groups that will get elevator access exist under **Settings › Groups**. - Your role can change schedules and device settings. - Elevator control is licensed on your account. > **IMPORTANT:** Activating elevator control rebuilds the controller's memory. The controller goes offline while it reprovisions, which can take many minutes, and every door on that controller is affected. Plan a maintenance window. See [Activating Elevator Control and Mapping Floors to Relays](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/how-to-map-elevator-floors-to-mercury-relays?hsLang=en). --- ### Verify the Correct Account Elevator hardware may be registered under a separate account. If you open the elevator controller and don't see the **Elevator** tab: 1. Click your name in the upper-right corner of the Control Center. 2. Check that you're in the account that owns the elevator controller. 3. Switch accounts or reach out to sales or support to get elevator add-on. 4. Return to **Hardware › ACUs** and reopen the controller. --- ### What You Will Configure 1. **Settings › Elevator**: create the building floors. 2. **Hardware › ACUs › Elevator**: activate elevator control and map floors to relays. 3. **Schedules › Where › Floors**: grant groups access to floors. Complete the setup in this order.
