[Elevator Control Configuration](https://help.alocity.com/knowledge/elevator-control?hsLang=en#elevator-control-configuration) # Granting Groups Access to Elevator Floors ## How to Use Schedules to Give Groups Access to Elevator Floors After the floors are created, mapped and tested, use schedules to decide which groups can reach each floor. --- ### 1. Create or Edit a Schedule ![](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/sched-1-create-a-schedule.png?width=670&height=235&name=sched-1-create-a-schedule.png) 1. Go to **Access Control › Schedules** and click **Add Schedule**. 2. **Name**: give the schedule a clear name, such as "Elevator Lobby". 3. **Site**: select the site the elevator controller belongs to. 4. **Open door automatically**: check it for public floors released on a schedule. Leave it unchecked for credential floors. 5. Continue to set **When**, **Who** and **Where**. --- ### 2. Credential Floor Schedule ![](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/sched-3-credential-floor-schedule.png?width=670&height=403&name=sched-3-credential-floor-schedule.png) - **Open door automatically: No**: users must present a valid credential. - **When**: the times users on this schedule can reach the floors. - **Who**: the users or groups who get access. Confirm the right ones are listed. - **Where**: select **Floors**, then add the floors these users can reach. Only floors mapped on the elevator controller can be added. --- ### 3. Public Floor Schedule ![](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/sched-2-public-floor-schedule.png?width=670&height=389&name=sched-2-public-floor-schedule.png) 1. **Open door automatically: Yes**: floors on this schedule are released without a credential. 2. **When**: the time window the floors are publicly released. 3. **Where**: select **Floors** instead of Doors, and add the mapped floors. --- ### 4. Use Groups for Elevator Access Whenever possible, give elevator access to **groups** rather than individual users, such as Floor 3 Employees, Executive Access, Residents — Floor 8 or Parking Garage Access. When someone's access changes, update their group membership instead of the elevator schedule. --- ### 5. Review Floor Permissions ![](https://help.alocity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/sched-4-verify-on-the-elevator-controller.png?width=670&height=333&name=sched-4-verify-on-the-elevator-controller.png) 1. **Floor access mode**: free access floors show their release window; credential floors require a badge. 2. **Schedule count**: how many schedules target each floor. 3. **Access levels**: each schedule that targets floors uses one access-level slot per cabin. 4. **Groups · who can go where**: check each group can reach the expected floors. --- ### 6. Troubleshooting | Problem | Check | | --- | --- | | Credential reads, but no floor button activates | The user's group is in the schedule, the floor is under Where › Floors, When/Who/Where are all set, and the floor is mapped to the correct relay. | | Floor doesn't appear under Where › Floors | The floor must be mapped to a relay on the elevator controller first. | | Wrong floor activates | Pulse the relays one at a time and fix the floor-to-relay mapping. | | Floor button turns off too quickly | In Settings › Elevator, edit the floor and increase its Activation Time (seconds). | | No access levels left | Each floor schedule uses one level per cabin. Combine schedules, or increase capacity (requires a panel rebuild). | --- ### Using Aimee Aimee can also help with elevator tasks, based on your permissions.
