Installing the AiVR Appliance Before installing the appliance, verify that the installation location meets the network, power and environmental requirements below. - **Network placement:** the AiVR does not physically connect to cameras. Every camera connection is IP-based, so the AiVR must be installed on the same local network (LAN/VLAN) as the cameras it will serve. - **Power:** connect the AiVR to a surge-protected circuit, ideally backed by a UPS, so recording and AI detection continue through short power interruptions. - **Appliance sizing:** confirm the AiVR model matches the number of camera streams on site. The AiVR-8 supports up to 8 AI streams, the AiVR-16 up to 16, and the AiVR-60 up to 60. Larger deployments require an AiVR Enterprise appliance please contact sales or support. Please consider the following: 1. **Ventilation:** the AiVR runs AI detection locally and generates heat under load. Do not install it inside a sealed cabinet or enclosure, and leave clear space around all vents so air can circulate freely. 2. **Environment:** install the AiVR in a clean, dry, climate-controlled space such as an MDF, IDF or telecom closet. Avoid areas exposed to dust, moisture or direct heat sources. 3. **Physical security:** because the AiVR stores recorded video, install it in a locked room or rack with access restricted to authorized personnel. --- ### Option 1: Install the AiVR on a Shelf or Desk 1. Place the AiVR on a level, stable surface in a secure, well-ventilated location. 2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the AiVR's network port to the switch serving the cameras. 3. Connect the power adapter and power on the AiVR. 4. Manage the device in the Alocity Control Center. --- ### Option 2: Install the AiVR in a Network Rack 1. Install a rack shelf in a standard 19" network rack. 2. Place the AiVR on the rack shelf, leaving clearance around the vents. 3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the AiVR's network port to the switch serving the cameras. 4. Connect the power adapter to the rack PDU or UPS and power on the AiVR. 5. Manage the device in the Alocity Control Center. --- ### After Installation 1. In the Alocity Control Center, go to **AiVR** and confirm the appliance shows a status of **Active**. On the **General** tab, confirm **CONNECTION** shows **Online**. 2. Open the appliance's **Network Settings** tab and validate the IP, gateway, netmask and DNS server. 3. Name the appliance for the area its cameras cover, then begin adding cameras.
