How to Name Your Device, Reboot the Unit, and Configure the IP Settings for Your Alocity AiVR
To ensure stable operation and proper management of your AiVR, it’s essential to name the device according to the location of the cameras connected to it, confirm its connectivity status, configure the IP settings, and understand how camera slots function. This article guides you through the AiVR Info, Network Settings, and Camera Slots tabs of the Alocity Control Center.
To manage AiVR's select Cameras from the top left toggle menu. Then select the option AiVR from the left menu, this will display your registered devices list:
You can gain access to the menu of a specific unit by clicking on the device name. Once on the menu you will find the following option tabs:
1. AiVR Info
Under the AiVR Info tab, you'll find:
-
Serial Number – Unique identifier for the device
-
Creation Date – When the AiVR was registered
-
Status – Device status (should be Active)
-
Connection – Must show Online to operate correctly
-
Storage Options – Select between Cloud or Device
Device Name
Enter a descriptive name in the Name field (e.g., “Main Office Server” or “Warehouse AiVR”). This is especially useful for managing multiple AiVRs.
Actions
-
Reboot – Restart the AiVR (use if unresponsive)
-
Health Check – Perform a system diagnostic
NOTE: when toggling from storage you might need to reboot the device, please keep in mind that recording on the cloud will consume more bandwidth.
2. Network Settings
Under the Network Settings tab:
-
If DHCP is enabled, the AiVR will receive an IP address automatically.
-
To assign a Static IP, toggle off DHCP and manually fill in:
-
IP
-
Gateway
-
Netmask
-
DNS Server
-
Best Practice
Use a static IP for all production deployments. This avoids reconnection issues with cameras or cloud services after a power cycle or reboot. If you need information of the network requirements click in the following link:

3. Camera Slots and Configuration
Go to the Camera Slots tab to view all cameras currently assigned to the AiVR.
Each camera tile displays:
-

Note: The number of available slots is limited by your AiVR hardware license. You may scan and view more cameras than the number of slots you can assign.
4. Managing Cameras (Options Menu)
Click the three-dot menu on any camera tile to:
-
View Details – Modify settings like name, credentials, or stream URLs
-
Change Location – Reassign the camera to a different zone
-
Remove – Unassign the camera from the AiVR
In the Details Panel, you can:
-
Edit camera name
-
Update RTSP or ONVIF credentials
-
Test the stream by clicking the Test button (important for validation)
-
Modify the Append URL (used to complete RTSP path)
-
Assign the camera to a zone
-
Review or update the Stream URL and Inference URL
Important
-
ONVIF cameras only ask for credentials and scan available profiles automatically.
-
RTSP cameras require the full stream path including appended credentials.
-
Ensure your camera uses H.264 or H.265 encoding — MJPEG is not supported.
