Connecting an Secure I/O Controller:

How to connect a Secure I/O Controller:

Connecting an Secure I/O Controller:

A Secure I/O Controller is a crucial component for perimeter door access control systems, designed to prevent tampering with the wiring of the access control reader when connected directly to a lock. The Secure I/O Controller enhances security by connecting the access control reader, such as the Alocity F3D100 Reader, to the door lock and additional components like push buttons or door contacts via encrypted RS485 communication.

In simpler terms, the Secure I/O Controller serves as a protective intermediary between the reader and the door lock, ensuring that unauthorized individuals cannot tamper with the wiring to gain access. This additional layer of security is especially important for perimeter door access control systems, where components are more exposed to potential security risks.

It is important to consider that the Secure I/O Controller will require an external power source with the following minimum requirements: 12 Volts 100mA.* DC (Operational):

Follow these steps to properly wire the Alocity F3D100 Reader to a Secure I/O controller:

  1. Locate the set of wires with green shrink tubing.
  2. Connect the RS485_B- (Green/White) wire to the positive (D-) port on the controller.
  3. Connect the RS485_A+ (Orange/White) wire to the negative (D+) port on the controller.
  4. Connect the Ground (Black) wire to the negative (GND) port on the controller.
  5. Connect the power source negative (-) wire to the negative (-) port on the controller.
  6. Connect the power source positive (+) wire to the positive (+) port on the controller.

Now you are ready to paid the F3D100 reader with the Secure I/O Controller (instructions on next page)
