K. Alocity AI Threat Detection Agents

 Gun & Weapon Detection

Threat Detection agents look for visible weapons so security teams can respond in seconds instead of minutes.

All agents in this article are configured in Settings (⚙ in the top bar) › AI Video Agent. For how to draw zones and lines, set schedules and activate cameras, see AI Agent Configuration Types: Area, Line and Whole Frame. To be notified when an agent detects something, see AI Alerts.

1. Gun & Weapon Detection

Identifies visible firearms or dangerous objects. Once activated, the system analyzes the captured footage automatically, applying predefined rules without any additional configuration.

  • Configuration type: Whole Frame (Activate)
  • Settings: None on the camera
  • Common uses: Entrances, lobbies, front desks, schools, retail and parking areas
  • Camera tips: Cover approach paths where a weapon would be visible before someone reaches the door. Weapon detection is a detail role, so it uses more AiVR capacity.

IMPORTANT: Pair weapon detection with fast alert actions. In AI Alerts, alerts can send push notifications, text messages and email, and trigger Strobe Lights and PA Announcement, and lockdown actions. Every weapon alert should be verified by a person before action is taken.

2. Setting Up an Agent

  1. Click Settings (⚙ in the top bar) › AI Video Agent and click the agent's card.
  2. Click an unconfigured camera in the camera grid.
  3. Draw the zone or line, or click Activate for whole-frame agents.
  4. Set the zone options and the schedule, then click Save.
  5. Click the bell on the configured camera to create an alert.
