Bulk Importing Users and Doors with Aimee

How to Get an Import Template from Aimee and Add Many Users, Credentials or Mercury Doors from an Excel or CSV File

Aimee can add or change many things at once: hundreds of users with their cards and access, or a set of Mercury doors. You don't need to know the import format. Ask Aimee for a template, fill it in with Excel or any spreadsheet, and attach it back to her. She checks the file, shows you one confirmation card for the whole batch, and does the work in the background.

1. Get a Template from Aimee

Ask for exactly what you want to import. Aimee returns a file with the right column headers and example rows.

Users with credentials

"Give me a CSV template I can fill in to bulk-add users with cards and access groups. Include column headers and 2 example rows."

Mercury doors

"Give me a CSV template to bulk-create Mercury doors, including the controller, reader port, lock relay, door contact and request-to-exit inputs, and unlock time. Include 2 example rows."

Download the file from the conversation and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or any spreadsheet app.

Tip: Always use the template Aimee gives you. Column names can change as features are added, and Aimee always returns the current format.

2. Fill It In

  • One row per user or door. Delete the example rows before importing.
  • Users: give each user a unique email. It's how Aimee matches people exactly.
  • Identification: attach Names, phone, etc.
  • Cards: enter the facility code and card number. The card's format must be one of your active card formats. See Card Formats.
  • PINs: don't type PIN numbers. Ask Aimee to generate and email a PIN for each user; PIN values are never shown.
  • Groups and schedules: use the exact names from the Control Center.
  • Mercury doors: the controller and its sub-panels must already be added and online, and the ports you list must be free. See Adding Sub-Panels.
  • Excel or CSV: either works. Keep the first row as the column headers.

3. Check the File Before Importing

Attach the file to a message and ask Aimee to review it without changing anything:

"Check this file for problems before importing. List any missing emails, duplicates, unknown groups or ports already in use. Don't import anything yet."

Fix anything she finds, then attach the corrected file.

4. Import

  1. Attach the file and ask: "Import the users in this file." or "Create the doors in this file."
  2. Aimee shows one confirmation card covering the whole batch. Check the count and a few rows.
  3. Click Yes. Large batches run in the background, with a progress view.

IMPORTANT: Send the whole file in one request. Don't split it into chunks; Aimee handles large batches in the background. If an import stops partway, Aimee can't "do the rest" from chat history, so ask her to import the rows that weren't created, for example by filtering on email.

5. Verify the Results

  • "How many users were created in the last hour? Export them as a CSV."
  • "Which of the users I just imported have no card?"
  • "Show the doors on Default Device 00009 and the ports each one uses." Then test each door: see Creating and Managing Mercury Doors.
